Story Compass uses the power of story and theatre to teach characer traits and values.  The program starts with an energetic story-based show, filled with music, drumming and audience participation and is followed with a multi-use CD that contains the stories performed, bonus stories and a discussion and activity guide (PDF file.) Teachers and parents can use the CD to futher explore the themes and lessons found in the stories.  This program is designed for elementary-aged children and is performed in schools, libraries and other venues.

For the 2010-11 School year the focus is RESPECT. Throughout February - April, we will tour The Creepy Crawly Creature and other stories of Respect.

Here's what others have to say about Story Compass:

"I think your program is very beneficial.  I have seen it at several schools.  I think it is important to expose kids to live performances.  They are inundated with recorded entertainment and information all the time.  It is good to see real people doing real performance.  There is a certain ambience - a connectedness - between the audience and the live performers that is missing in recorded entertainment.  The audience is part of the live performance!  Kids need to experience that.  It kind of goes along with your message of caring and compassion."

"This was fabulous.  I loved it.  I am excited to be able to use these stories as examples of kindness, which is something we approach often!  Thank you!"

 - Preschool teacher

"I do believe these assemblies were very effective.  Even after months my students were talking about the first one.  The assemblies teach the chidlren character traits that are so valuable to growing up."
